U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday defended Israel’s decision to strike a Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorist in Gaza despite the fragile ceasefire.

"Israel didn't surrender its right to self-defense. Obviously, the ceasefire is based on obligations on both sides," Rubio told media representatives as he joined U.S. President Donald Trump onboard Air Force One.

Ohel was one of the last living hostages to be discharged from Rabin Medical Center at Beilinson Hospital before the light symbolically switched off. That chapter is thankfully closed. Now a new one of recuperation and reintegration back into life and Israeli society begins.

At the moment, we are in Phase 1 of the ceasefire agreement, which stipulates the return of all Israeli hostages.

Hamas is slow-walking this process and appears bent on dragging out this phase as long as possible, while regaining control over the Gaza Strip, and is already trying to exert influence over the potential “technocratic” government that is expected to take over the civilian administration of the enclave at some point.
