The 6 Garrison has held its Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Friday 20 December 2024, at the Kamina Barracks SDA Church in Tamale.
The event brought together personnel and churches within the Garrison and their families to celebrate the Christmas festivities.
The Garrison Chaplain, Reverend Father Captain Prince Yeboah from the Roman Catholic Church, Kamina, in his homily, emphasised that the Christmas season was one of love and urged everyone to love their neighbours. He further encouraged the congregation to use the Christmas season to express gratitude to God for His protection.

The General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brig. Gen. Frank Nartey-Larbi, stated that the significance of Christmas goes beyond merry-making but calls for sacrifice, humility, and service to mankind. He commended all personnel and Defence Civilian Staff for their commitment to making the year 2024 a great success and encouraged the congregation to consistently seek the face of God in their endeavours. He thanked the Chaplains for their continuous support and guidance.
The 6 Garrison Commander, who also doubles as the Base Commander of the Air Force Base, Air Commodore Joshua Mensah-Lukaat, stated that the year had been demanding on members of the Garrison through the conduct of exercises and operations under Operation Peace Trail. He added that despite the challenges that came with the operations, the diligence of troops ensured that the operation was a success. He further commended the families of troops for being dependable and supportive, ensuring that their spouses have a sound mind to go about their duties and urged them to continue offering their support.
Present at the event included the Commander Air Force Training Command, Air Commodore Mathias Awauh, Command Logistics Officer Col. John Kwarteng, Commanding Officer 6 Infantry Battalion Lt. Col. Jerry Ankuyi, Officer in Charge 3 Field Workshop Lt. Col. Mariam Yeboah, Officers, Soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff, Air Force Base Choir, 6 Infantry Battalion Choir, 69 Air Borne Force Choir, 93 Signal Regiment Choir, Wives Association Choir, as well as choirs from various churches in Kamina and Bawaah Barracks. 
 The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, has commissioned Ghana Navy Ship (GNS) Achimota and Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ezinlibo at the Western Naval Command on Monday 23 December 2024. 

In his speech, Nana Akuffo-Addo highlighted the role of the Ghana Navy in securing maritime resources as well as contributing to regional and global peace. He emphasised that the commissioning served as a reminder of the Navy’s importance in safeguarding the territorial maritme space of the Nation.
He posited that the auxiliary ship would enhance operational readiness, combat illegal activities, conduct search and rescue missions and assist in logistics resupply to mission areas all over the world. He added that, FOB Ezinlibo, on the other hand has accommodation units capable of housing over one thousand (1,000) personnel, a harbour and administration block. 
The President also noted that the Ghana Navy had successfully integrated drone technology into its operations, enabling intelligence-driven missions and surveillance of the Exclusive Economic Zone. The move, he stated had significantly improved maritime security making the sea safer for maritime trade.
Nana Addo also paid glowing tribute to the Honorable Minister for Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong- Peprah and the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issa Adam Yakubu for their tireless efforts in ensuring the timely completion of the projects.
