1. From 20-01-2025, 1700 hrs. to 21-01-2025, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, between Marog and Kishtwari Pather and due to four lane construction work.
2. Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to undertake journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during day time as there is apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
3. Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time as there is single lane traffic and poor condition of road at Dalwas, Mehad and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather on Jammu Srinagar NHW .
4. HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
5. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.
6. Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslide/shooting stone area.

*Mother Dies 17 Days After Son Due to Suffocation in Kulgam*
*20 Deaths in Six Asphyxiation Incidents so far this winter in J&K*
Kulgam, Jan 21 : A mother has succumbed to her injuries 17 days after her son passed away following a suffocation incident in Gudder, are of south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Tuesday.
An official told news agency JKNS that, a woman who was hospitalised due to suffocation on January 2, succumbed to her injuries 17 days after her son passed away following a suffocation incident in Gudder.
The deceased, Fameeda Akhter, and her 25-year-old son, Nisar Ahmad Khan, were found unconscious on January 2 at their home in Gudder due to suffocation caused by charcoal fire fumes, they were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors referred them to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
"Unfortunately, Nisar Ahmad lost his life two days after the incident, and despite prolonged treatment, his mother, Fameeda Akhter, passed away today," the official added.
As reported earlier by JKNS, a total of 19 deaths were reported across Jammu and Kashmir due to asphyxiation, with today's death the total death toll due to suffocation reaches 20.(JKNS)

*70 lakh eligible to vote in panchayat polls in J-K after electoral rolls update*
Jammu, Jan 21: More than 70 lakh voters, including over 34 lakh women, are eligible to vote in the panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir after the annual revision of electoral rolls, officials said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission on Monday concluded annual revision of panchayat electoral rolls that were published with January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date, an official spokesperson said.
During the annual revision of the panchayat electoral rolls, which began on November 11 with the publication of the draft electoral rolls, several additions, deletions and changes in the entries were incorporated, the spokesperson said.
He said 3,41,072 new voters have been added and 1,10,768 names have been deleted due to death, relocation or other reasons. Besides, corrections were carried out in the details of 10,726 voters and 31,180 voters were transposed to other panchayat wards, the spokesperson said.
The final panchayat electoral roll has 70,00,670 voters -- 35,66,475 males and 34,34,048 females and 147 third gender voters.
The commission appreciated the cooperation of all stakeholders, including political parties, district panchayat election officers, panchayat observers, and others who turned up in huge numbers to register their names in the electoral rolls.
The spokesperson added that the process of revision is a continuous exercise, and added that all eligible voters who are 18 years of age, as on January 1, 2025, and their names are not in the final electoral rolls can get themselves enrolled by filling the requisite form and depositing it with the concerned offices.–(PTI)

*Slight improvement in night temperatures as Parts of Kashmir witness Rain, Snow*
*Weatherman says, light Rain, Snow activities to continue in J&K parts until Wednesday*
Srinagar, Jan 21 (JKNS): A slight improvement in night temperatures was recorded across Kashmir as several areas witnessed light to moderate rain and snowfall, bringing some relief from the intense cold wave.
The spell of rain and snow was reported in both upper and North Kashmir plains recieve rains from yeaterday evening.
Details available with news agency JKNS stated that, the mercury in Srinagar settled at 1.0°C, while other areas such as Qazigund and Pahalgam recorded -1.6°C and -2.2°C. Gulmarg, known for its skiing slopes, reported -3.2°C, and Sonamarg recorded -4.8°C.
In other parts of the Valley, temperatures hovered just below or slightly above freezing, with Budgam at 0.5°C and Pulwama at -1.1°C. Meanwhile, areas like Larnoo in south Kashmir witnessed a severe cold with temperatures dropping to -6.0°C.
In Jammu, the winter capital of the Union Territory, the night temperature remained relatively warmer at 9.0°C. Other districts such as Banihal, Batote, and Katra recorded 1.0°C, 5.2°C, and 10.8°C, it stated.
Ladakh remained the coldest region, with Leh registering -9.0°C and Drass and Kargil recording identical temperatures of -9.8°C.
Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif told JKNS that, due another weak Western Disturbance, light activities of rain/snow may continue until Wednesday over a few parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Faizan said, No strong Western Disturbance is expected to impact Jammu and Kashmir until at least January 28.
Cold Wave is set to make a comeback from January 24 onwards, he added. (JKNS)
